Brightstripe (or to use our Sunday name, Brightstripe – Cultural Health CIC) is a vibrant Community Interest Company specialising in enhancing people’s wellbeing by encouraging participation in arts, sports and physical activity.
Most of our team used to be part of Herefordshire Council’s Arts and Sports Development Teams. But at the beginning of 2013, when the Council was having to make tough decisions around which services it could afford, we started chatting amongst ourselves to explore alternatives ways of working. It didn’t take us long to realise we all share a passion for making a difference to the vibrancy of our communities through the arts, sports and physical activity. We all believe in creative learning and helping everyone regardless of age and ability reach their potential. After forming Brightstripe, we negotiated a Service Level Agreement with the Council, which ends in 2016, to enable us to become more self-sustaining. We’re always on the lookout for new partners to collaborate with, funding to secure, or new projects to start – as long as they meet our twin objectives of helping vulnerable people or economic development. We’re now based at Hereford College of Arts’s inspiring College Road Campus surrounded by positivity, creativity and learning. Well, where else would we be really?
